Newly Discovered 4,400-Year Old Tomb In Egypt Is Stealing Giza’s Thunder Big Time

In a land dominated by one of the world’s marvelous wonders – the majestic pyramids, a 4,400-year old tomb in Egypt has been discovered by the archaeologists of the country. Located in a close proximity to the Pyramid of Giza, the tomb is said to have belonged to an eminent Egyptian priestess – Hetpet, according to the secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr. Mostafa Waziri.

The discovery of this 4,400-year old tomb in Egypt has led to a rise in discoveries in the country, which the officials feel could help in boosting the tourism in Egypt. Comprising of unique, ancient, and rarely-witnessed paintings on the wall, the tomb was discovered in the extended region of the western necropolis of Giza.

4,400-Year Old Egyptian Tomb

Much famed to be a proud home of the tombs that belong to the Old Kingdom, the priestess of this 4,400-year old tomb in Egypt is believed to have hailed from the 5th royal dynasty of the ancient Egypt. While the wall paintings have been discovered in a great condition inside the tomb built with mud brick, the mummy of Hetpet and one more tomb that belonged to her are yet to be excavated.

The walls of the tomb showcase Hetpet in different scenes such as hunting, and fishing while other depictions portray colorful and traditional scenes of soldiers, offerings and sacrifices, bird-catching, animals grazing, and fruit-gathering, etc.

4,400-Year Old Tomb In Egypt

As a part of the mission that was, and still is led by Dr. Mostafa al-Waziri, discoveries in Egypt have been on the rise ever since 19th century. Parts of discoveries that belonged to Hetpet are now showcased in a popular museum in Berlin.

The excavation for this 4,400-year old tomb in Egypt started last year in October and archaeologists feel that there’s a lot more to come in future as what appears on the surface of Egypt is not even the half of what is buried under this massive desert.

Also, the discovery of Hetpet’s tomb comes as a great relief before the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in 2022 which will be seen showcasing unique Egyptian artefacts including the ones belonging to the popular King Tutankhamun, and the famous pharaoh Ramses II.

Isn’t that exciting? While the history buffs are jumping with joy, get going by booking one of the customizable Egypt tour packages with TravelTriangle, and embark on a journey to relish the charm of these fascinating archaeological discoveries on an amazing Egyptian sojourn!

Scheveningen Is Celebrating 200 Years With A Year Long Beach Party

Scheveningen is celebrating 200 years with a year long beach party!

Imagine the joy when anyone celebrates 100 years of anything and now double the fun for that is exactly how the Dutch seaside resort of Scheveningen is celebrating its 200 years. It is going all in to mark the special occasion with a year long celebration that includes some of the most prominent events, cultural extravaganzas and even a full blown boat race thriller.

The resort which started with a wooden structure containing just four bathtubs, soon transformed into the Netherlands’s first seaside resort – and a mighty one at that. For the resort, its long beach and the village is one of the eight districts of the Hague and attracts almost 9 million people a year. It is dotted with cafes and exciting venues – making it one of the most happening places to chill.

Scheveningen beach

The year long beach party started with around 10000 people from the Hague who took part in a sub-zero swim during the annual New Year Dive and braved the cold waters to mark the occasion.

Other events that would follow this include “Rings Beside The Sea” which is a vast land art project measuring a whopping 150 x 300 meters in the golden sands. Apart from this, there is Sand Sculpting Championships in the month of June where 11 large sand artworks would be made. In August, there is an amazing International Fireworks Festival and it would be followed by the world’s biggest motocross beach race, the Red Bull Knockout, in November.

Scheveningen beach resort celebrations

Scheveningen will also be the finish line for the Volvo Ocean Race, which has 65 boats fighting through high winds and crashing waves and covering 46000 nautical miles over a period of nine months. Musically, the beach is also hosting a number of events like BonFire Beach Fest in April, a live performance of fisherman’s opera Hard Hands in September, and a weekend that would play Latin and Caribbean music at the Tropical Valentine Festival in February. And to please the art lovers, there are a number of art exhibitions showcasing stuff that would wow your senses.

Apart from the above, the beach would be buzzing with hyper local events through the year – all year long – making it one of the best places to travel in 2018.

Scheveningen beach resort

So what are you waiting for? Book a holiday to this paradise for a once in a lifetime experience that would perhaps be repeated only after another 100 years! Yep.

Virgin Hyperloop One From Pune To Mumbai Will Cover 140-Km Distance In 25 Minutes!!

Virgin Hyperloop One has chosen India as the grand platform to unveil the revolutionary Hyperloop One and we couldn’t be any happier. In a remarkable development, the Maharashtra Government and Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson signed a MoU which marks the inception of project Hyperloop from Mumbai to Pune. The transportation system would bring down the travel time between the two cities to 25-minutes only! The Hyperloop is all set to benefit 26 million commuters who would be covered under its proposed route – Pune City Central, Navi Mumbai Airport, Mumbai City.

The historic deal between Hyperloop One and Maharashtra Government took place in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis. Furthermore, the event was also attended by Virgin Hyperloop One board members and prime investors Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem – CEO and Group Chairman of DP World, and Ziyavudin Magomedov – Chairman of Summa Group.

Virgin Hyperloop One from Pune To Mumbai

I believe Virgin Hyperloop One could have the same impact upon India in the 21st century as trains did in the 20th century. The Pune–Mumbai route is an ideal first corridor as part of a national hyperloop network that could dramatically reduce travel times between India’smajor cities to as little as two hours,” said Sir Richard Branson. “Virgin Hyperloop One can help India become a global transportation pioneer and forge a new world-changing industry.

Key features of the Virgin Hyperloop One from Pune to Mumbai

acj-1902-virgin-hyperloop-one (1)

  • It will drastically bring down the Mumbai to Pune travel time from 2 hours 43 minutes to just 25 minutes
  • The Hyperloop will complete 150 million passenger trips annually and end up saving in excess of 90 million hours of travel time
  • Greater opportunities will be generated and social and economic mobility will be intensified
  • Movement by Hyperloop will speed up the movement of goods and cargo, thus resulting in quick delivery
  • If operated for 30 years, the Hyperloop would account for socio-economic benefits worth INR 350,000 crores. It will include time savings, emissions, accident reduction, and operational cost savings

Virgin Hyperloop One inauguration function

  • The Hyperloop system is 100% electricity efficient
  • Expressway congestion will get eased & this could end up reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 150,000 tons annually
  • The Pune–Mumbai hyperloop construction route would be carried out in two phases
  • It will take 2-3 years for the demonstration track to be built and it will serve as a platform for all sorts of testing, certifying, and regulating
  • The second phase is estimated to be completed within five to seven years, which will include the construction of the full Pune–Mumbai route. Additionally, the route is also touted to link central Pune with the New Pune International Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai with Pune’s industrial economic zones.

What is a Hyperloop?

Hyperloop is a revolutionary train service that aims to reduce the daily commuting, spanning over a longer distance, drastically. The technology enables efficient catering of passenger and cargo into a pod that works exclusively on electricity. The pod accelerates as a result of electric repulsion through a low-pressure tube. Soon the pod starts to levitate and shoots above the track because of magnetic levitation. Pretty soon the Hyperloop gains a speed equivalent to an airplane’s. This insane speed, which is a result of ultra-low aerodynamic drag, is mostly 2-3 times than the high-speed rail. With the Hyperloop, it is quite efficient to cover a large distance in the shortest time span.

The Hyperloop is yet in its initial stages of commercialization after successfully completing the test. India is the very first market for Virgin Hyperloop One, which is way ahead of the Middle East, Northern Europe, and the US. The Hyperloop is eyeing the world, however, India is at the helm.

Move Over Globetrotting, We’re Set To Fly Around The Moon Now!

It’s time to set new goals globetrotters! Virginia-based space and aeronautics company called Space Adventures is coming up with circumlunar mission, something that’s never been done before. The venture will let travelers fly around the moon, within 60 miles to its surface; the company claims this is the closest anyone has ever been to the moon, since 1972.

With a capacity of two passengers and one professional cosmonaut, the space travel will commence with a rocket ride to the International Space Station (ISS), spending ten days for acclimatization. Post this, they’ll board yet another rocket, taking them to the “illuminated far-side of the moon”, allowing them to behold the view of Earth, before making their way back home.

View from International Space Station

As per the expectations of Space Adventure, the first circumlunar voyage will take place in the early 2020. Needless to say, this exploration is meant for the wealthier souls, as it is not another thing you can do on a shoestring, or even on a splurging budget. However, the cost would be affected by different factors such as choice of vehicle, timing and precise mission profile.

Since we know people are paying as much as 250,000 USD to Virgin Galactic’s space tour (consisting of six minutes of weightlessness as well as being able to witness the Earth’s curvature from space), it would be safe to say, this one is going to cost lot more than that.

Ola Begins Its Water Taxi Service From Guwahati Airport To The Main City

Ola boat service is now a reality. The cab hailing app in alliance with the Assam Government began testing the boat service from the Guwahati airport to the main city via the Brahmaputra River Channel on February 7 and so far the results are very promising. And if all goes well in the future too, Ola will make the service public after a week.

It is worth noting that this high speed water taxi service would reduce the average time taken from the Guwahati airport to the main city by 45 minutes from one hour by road to 15 minutes by water taxi. Ola boat can cover as much as 15 km in 15 minutes.

ola boat service in guwahati

To facilitate the service, a jetty is built near the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati airport) from which the boats would run till the the jetty in the main city. The water taxi has a capacity of 15-20 people and would be machine operated. These high speed taxis would run from Lachit Ghat, Machkhowa to North Guwahati and would drastically reduce the commute timing from 45 (by road) minutes to 2-5 minutes.

If the pilot run proves to be successful, the government would consider expanding the service and prioritizing the water taxi commute even more. This would be not only beneficial for the economy and development but would also be a sigh of relief for people who would have otherwise taken the road and spent hours commuting from one place to another via road.

Surreal Things To Do On A Friends Trip To Sri Lanka

Both my friends and I are crazy, fun-loving, and adventurous people who love to travel places. Having explored a couple of cities already in the country, and being a mix of entrepreneurs and homemakers, we were wishing to take an international trip this time that would give us a refreshing break from our routine. And our holiday in Sri Lanka offered just that, whilst proving to be a delight.

We finalized the destination, keeping its close proximity to India and our budget in mind, and everything worked perfectly in our favor. After closing the location, we wanted someone to plan and organize everything for us, and since my travel agent was out of station, I was looking for someone else.

posing in nuwara eliya

It was while browsing Facebook that I finally came across TravelTriangle, and the customized packages’ feature really appealed to me. I downloaded the app right away on my phone, and filled up our trip query. Within minutes I got a reply with different quotes, after which we customized our itinerary as we needed some adventure. Soon after, I received a final quote, and Ms. Dimple our travel consultant very supportingly took care of everything, while motivating us for the all girls trip.

Trip Type: 5 Days 4 Nights friends trip
Cost: INR 3,78,660
Inclusions: All the accommodation, breakfast and dinner, transfers from and to the airport, local sightseeing and experiences, an English speaking driver with a private cab, and GST
Exclusions:Lunch, Airfare and Visa, Entry fee charges, Personal expenses, and anything not mentioned in the inclusions

Day 1: Climbing the Sigiriya rock & visiting Dambulla Cave Temple

trekking to sigiriya

posing in front of sigiriya

Our trip kick-started on an adventurous note soon after reaching the Sri Lankan land, as our trip representative Mr. Dilshan took us to Dambulla and Sigiriya. Witnessing these heritage sites, especially the century old cave temple, the paintings, and climbing the citadel of the famous Sigiriya rock are definitely the best things to do on a friends trip to Sri Lanka, and we were proud that we did it.

Climbing through the rocks, frescoes, and sitting at the top made us feel so much at peace, that any amount of words would be less to describe that feeling. Later, we headed back to our hotel in Dambulla and called it a day.

Day 2: Visiting Kandy

sightseeing in kandy

This day, we were all energized and excited as our Sri Lanka trip itinerary had sightseeing and shopping in store for us. After a hearty breakfast, we began with a tour to Kandy where we visited the Kandy Murugan Temple, the Tooth Relic Temple, and did some shopping. All of us wished to wear a saree like Sinhalese ladies, and Mr. Dilshan did his best by taking us to a great store from where we bought really beautiful sarees.

Later in the evening, we reached Nuwara Eliya where we had our stay planned for the night.

Day 3: Exploring Nuwara Eliya & rafting in Kitulgala

sightseeing in nuwara eliya

We wanted our holiday to have the top adventurous things to do on a friends trip to Sri Lanka, for which, we chose to visit Kitulgala for white water rafting. But before tasting the thrill, we began our day with a visit to the Hanuman and Seeta Devi Temples and other historic places mentioned in the Ramayana. It truly made our experience enriching and gave us a glimpse of a beautiful side of the Sri Lankan land.

Later in the evening, we finally reached Kitulgala where the world famous adventure awaited us. White water rafting in River Kelani turned out to be an unforgettably exciting experience, and all of us loved every bit of it. With proper safety gears and the live camera around, we felt both safe and motivated to indulge in the adventure sport. For anyone who is heading to Sri Lanka, has to do this activity at least once in their life.

Day 4: Sightseeing in Colombo

shopping in colombo

sightseeing in colombo

The second last day of our friends trip to Sri Lanka was all about exploring the wonders of Colombo. Soon after having our breakfast, we left for the capital city and reached there by noon. Our sightseeing tour included The President’s House located at the Fort, the Galle area, the Pettah area, and a few temples. Colombo surely seemed like one of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka and exploring it gave us immense joy.

Day 5: Shopping in Colombo

lunch in colombo

Since this was the last day of our trip in Sri Lanka, we wanted to make the most of it. So, we did what we loved the most, i.e. shopping, and a lot of shopping. Most of us bought gifts and souvenirs for our families and friends before finally bidding adieu to this city. Later, Mr. Dilshan dropped us at the airport for our flight back home, and we flew with sweet memories in our hearts and smiles on our faces.

This was no doubt one of the best and safest trips that we have had, and we cannot thank TravelTriangle and our agent Direct Link enough for that. Everything from our hotels to our experience was top-notch!

  • Climbing the Sigiriya rock
  • White water rafting in Kitulgala
  • Shopping
  • While there weren’t any low point in our trip, the one thing that made us really upset was the food in Kitulgala. It wasn’t good and some of us even ended up with a stomach ache. At that time, we really wished that we had known a better place to eat in the city.
  • When you visit the Sigiriya rock, make sure you climb to the top since the view from there is absolutely worth it.
  • Sri Lanka has some of the finest sarees, so if you’re a Shopaholic, don’t forget to visit the best store in the city and buy a couple of them for yourself.
  • Even if you’re not an adventure lover, do indulge in rafting in Kitulgala as it’s an adventure of a lifetime and it will make your trip more memorable.
  • Do research a bit about the best places to eat before your trip begins.

Our overall experience was so incredible that if I had to rate it, I would give a 5/5 and definitely recommend my friends & family to plan a Sri Lanka trip with TravelTriangle. It was a perfect pocket-friendly trip in comparison to the other online agents, and our trip coordinators were very cooperative and friendly, which made everything super convenient. In short, we loved it!

He Was Hypnotized In Maldives, It Can Happen To You Too! BEWARE

Being at Maldives is not about lavishly spending on shopping or going around relentlessly visiting tourist spots, but about simply relaxing and getting in touch with the absolute natural. Sanjay Pasari realized that Maldives is of the stuff that fantasies are made of, while on his 4D/3N trip to Maldives with his wife and two daughters. At a total price of Rs.168,001, his package covered their stay at luxurious resorts, dinner, breakfast and transfers. Terming it as his best international trip, here is what he has to share.

My family and I are extremely fond of traveling. I make it a point that my family travels to one international destination and one domestic destination every year. I have been successfully following this routine since the last 9 years. This time on the demand of my younger daughter, we shortlisted Maldives to be the one. I started looking for the perfect package, but since I didn’t find many tour operators in Kolkata who could provide me a package for Maldives, I started looking online. On being offered a suitable quote, I sealed the deal with TravelTraingle.

Tip: When it comes to family trips, it is always better to have a travel expert handle your trip. Also, another good thing about traveling to Maldives is that there is no Pre-Visa requirement. Upon landing in the country, you get Visa on arrival that has a 30 day validity.

Day 1: Exploring the sunny side

Having fun around the beach resort

We were picked up from the Male International Airport at around 2 pm and were transported to our resort by a speed boat in 20 minutes. On reaching our resort — Superior Beach Bungalow, we were delighted to discover the mesmerizing view from the balcony of our rooms.

sunset at the resort

After checking in at the hotel, we proceeded towards the beach adjacent to our resort. Benumbed by the scenic beauty, we sat around the beach for an hour and blankly admired the sun change its colors — from fiery yellow to orange to dark blue. Retreating from the beach, we went for our dinner at the resort’s restaurant which was included in our package. Though we were offered a sufficient variety of food, the Indian cuisines served were not up to mark.

Tip: Most of the resorts in Maldives serve Indian cuisine so travelers need not worry, but it is always better to confirm from your agent.

Day 2: Soaking in the Maldivian beauty

hanging around at the beach

Since I am an early riser, I started the day with a morning walk along with my wife and we were later joined by our daughters. Superior Beach Bungalow is situated right on the beach, thus offering a perfect view and an uncrowded space for a peaceful walk. After a refreshing bath at the beach, we went for the breakfast. I rejoiced having some Maldivian specialties but my wife and daughters couldn’t, since there were hardly any vegetarian options available.

Tip: Always choose your accommodation carefully since all the rooms on your resort could be beach facing but if you’re someone who prefers the ocean view more than anything, a water villa could be your thing. Luckily, for us, we booked both.

running around the beach

The day was free for leisure. Though we enjoyed our time swimming at the beach and hanging out on the balcony — we could not get enough of the Maldivian beauty. The only problem was the weather, which revolved around 30 degrees through most of the day.

Tip: Be prepared for some serious sun since Maldives during this time is usually a bit hot during the day.

preparing for adventure activities

Back at the reception, we inquired about water sports that were being offered at the resort. We wanted to book a submarine trip but were informed that it won’t be possible until 8 members from the resort book for the same. When the minimum required number could not be fulfilled, it got cancelled. Back at the beach, we indulged in jet skiing and paragliding.

Tip: Activities at most of the resorts in Maldives are paid and could also be subject to availability and weather conditions, so be careful about that.

paragliding in Maldives

Paragliding in Maldivian waters was very exciting and safe, since it was very well organized. The beaches were very clean, serene and uncrowded, unlike the beaches of Pattaya and Phuket that we had previously visited. Later in the evening we happened to see the Heaven Villa, and got hypnotized by its sheer magnificence. We then inquired about the difference between our pre-booked Water Villa and Heaven Villa. At a price of $75(Rs.5000) per person we got our stay upgraded and booked the third night’s stay at the enthralling Heaven Villa.

Tip: Once again, it is important that you know the kind of accommodation you would be getting and if you’re not happy, one can always try for an upgrade, which most of the resorts are happy to cater to.

Planning your holiday in Maldives but confused about what to do? These Maldives travel stories help you find your best trip ever!

Real travel stories. Real stays. Handy tips to help you make the right choice.

Day 3: A stay in heaven

The stairs of our resort

Having upgraded our stay, the next morning we shifted to Heaven Villa. Our rooms not only featured an extremely fantastic view from the balcony but also a private Jacuzzi. The best part was that we could get down in the sea right from the balcony itself!

from Heaven Villa into the sea

Post a delicious lunch at the villa, we caught up with the water sport activities that were left — kayaking and snorkeling. After having a power doze of adventure, we stayed in the balcony of the villa for the rest of the day. The experience of being at the resort was such that it was hard to extract ourselves from its exquisite beauty.

Hanging out at the balcony of Heaven Villa

In the evening we went for the shark show, which was a one-of-a-kind experience. As night approached, we arranged our own dinner thinking that it was no longer included in the package after up-gradation. It was only on the next day that we got to know by the resort authorities, that it still was.

Tip: Always be aware about the inclusions and exclusions in your package.

Day 4: Speeding back home

At the beach

Bedazzled by the rising sun, we once again woke up early to see the sunrise. Since we had a flight to catch at 2 pm, we began packing by 11 am. We then had our breakfast and cleared out the bills at the reception for up-gradation and water activities and left for the airport on the speed boat.

Speed Boat in Maldives

High Point: The trip was managed perfectly and we had a very relaxed holiday.

Low Point: Better negotiation with the resort authorities could have been done while getting the stay upgraded.

Tip for future travelers:

  • Maldives is the perfect place to chill and relax. Your indulgence with natural serenity will remain uninterrupted throughout your stay.
  • Get to know about your accommodation before you book
  • State your requirements clearly to the agent so that there is no last minute miscommunication
  • Try to book a full board package where all your meals are covered since it turns out to be more economical

Allow your senses to be hypnotized by the mesmerizing Maldives. Resisting would yield you nothing, so Book NOW!
